Can the intangible be represented photographically?

This is a work consisting of four self-portraits that describe the process of hair loss after chemotherapy.

This process is actually the first moment in which an abstract and incomprehensible illness takes on a physical form.

Documenting this photographically is an attempt to transform it into something concrete and tangible.

The intensity achieved in the self-portraits was created by using a mirror, which served as a counterpart and offered me the opportunity for self-observation. This meant that my gaze was deliberately not directed at the viewer, but rather inward.

In this photographic work, I was interested to explore depicting emotional pain, loss, grief, and change.
